The Registered Nurse Team Leader is a pivotal clinical and leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations, clinical workflows, and nursing staff within a designated pediatric patient care unit. Combining expert hands-on pediatric clinical nursing skills with foundational leadership capabilities, the Nursing Team Leader ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, and family centered care. The role serves as a primary resource for staff nurses and nurse’s aides. The Nursing Team Leader collaborates closely with nursing leadership and multidisciplinary therapeutic teams, and acts as a liaison between families and medical staff to facilitate optimal patient outcomes and complex discharge planning.
3+ years of progressive pediatric acute or sub-acute nursing experience, with a strong preference for pediatric rehabilitation, pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), or specialized pediatric long-term care.
Minimum 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience (e.g. Charge Nurse, Preceptor, Committee Chair, or permanent / interim team leader role).
Advanced clinical skills specific to medically complex, technology dependent pediatrics (e.g. vent/trach management, complex feeding tubes, advanced wound care).
Exceptional communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse families and across functional clinical teams.
Strong organizational and time management abilities to balance direct patient care support with shift operational duties.
Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) platforms such as Meditech/Expanse, MS Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, pptx, OneNote, MS Bookings, MS Forms), Google Suite, Voalte helpful.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution in the US required. Masters degree in nursing or healthcare administration is a plus.
Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended
Certified Pediatric Nursing (CPN) or other relevant clinical leadership certifications preferred.
