Overview

This position serves as a dual role of Clinical Nurse Educator and Nursing Supervisor (CNENS). This position provides staff professional development opportunities through engagement as a lifelong learner and support in all daily shift activities.  The CNENS demonstrates expertise in their roles as educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader, researcher, coordinator, and resource.  CNENS supports the development of the bedside nurse by fostering empowerment through knowledge, competency, and skills using nursing evidence-based practices. These services are aligned with BCH’s strategic initiatives, mission, vision, and values.  CNENS will be a member of the Education team and therefore be responsible for collaborating in staff development including orientation, in-services, and continuing education for staff at all levels.  In addition, the CNENS will collaborate with various disciplines in the development, implementation, and practices as they relate to bedside care.  CNENS will also be a part of the nursing leadership team and seen as a role model to promote the profession of nursing as a leader at the bedside.

Shift: Hours worked will mirror the Nursing Supervisor schedule/work hours. The CNE/NS will need to be the second Nurse leader scheduled for the shift.  The CNE/NS cannot be the third assigned leader on a Nurse Supervisor shift unless approved to do so (for special projects/learning needs) by the Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Professional Development.

  • Work hours are predominantly 7:30pm-8am with weekend day shift (based on need) from 7:30am-8pm.

This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer with a dotted line to the Director of Professional Development.
