The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Pediatric Long Term Care Pavilion is a unique 24-bed facility dedicated
to the highly specialized needs of infants and children who require extended medical care and rehabilitation and are co-located with the hospital.This unit includes a staff of approximately 60, working in varying capacities as Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Recreation Therapists, and Certified Nurse Aides. The interdisciplinary team includes clinical pharmacy, social work, nutrition, and child life, all of which provide continuous care for our patients.
Blythedale is seeking a Medical Director, Long-Term Care(LTC) to join our multidisciplinary team in delivering quality care to pediatric patients with complex needs.The Medical Director (LTC ) is a physician leader responsible for the management and development of our LTC unit.You will advance the delivery of care to our LTC patients through innovation, best practices, and successful demonstration of collaborative leadershipwith a wide range of stakeholders.
Coordinate medical care in the LTC unit and provide clinical guidance and oversight regarding the implementation of resident care policies.
Identify, evaluate, and address/resolve medical and clinical concerns and issues that affect resident care, medical care or quality of life; or are related to the provision of services by physicians and other licensed health care practitioners.
Assessing and evaluating the overall process and identifying the high-risk, high-volumer esident care issues related to quality of care, quality of life, safety, and environmental concerns.
Oversee the LTC unit budget with a high business acumen to ensure effective use and deployment of staffing and resources.
The medical director should also be familiar with the facility’s process of performance of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) system, which includes gathering Minimum Data Set (MDS) data, developing care plans, and reviewing the quality indicators/quality measures as a part of the ongoing quality assurance activities.
Provide guidance as to specific expectations for performance of practitioners, help the facility ensure that a system is in place for monitoring the performance of health care practitioners, and facilitate feedback to all practitioners on performance and practices.
•Minimum 5 years of experience in complex pediatric care, either outpatient or long-term career experience.
•Experience in palliative care preferred.
•Board certified in Pediatrics.
•Board certified in Pediatrics Critical Care–preferred.
•Medical Doctorate or Doctor of Ostheopathy from an accredited school.
•Current Medical Doctor license in New York State.
•Active DEA License required.
•Basic Life Support Certification required.
•Pediatric Advance Life Support certification required.
•Standing, walking, stooping.
•Ability to transfer children and equipment.
•Ability to meet flexible scheduling demands and patient care needs.
